Webinar: California’s Adaptation Strategies and Challenges for Addressing Changing Precipitation Patterns and Drought

The Department of Homeland Security’s National Protection and Programs Directorate, Office of Infrastructure Protection will host a Webinar, “California’s Adaptation Strategies and Challenges for Addressing Changing Precipitation Patterns and Drought,” on Friday, July 24, 2015.

This Webinar will focus on California’s current drought experiences addressing best practices and lessons learned, as well as impacts to the economy, businesses, emergency services, utilities, and critical infrastructure.

Tentative speakers will include representatives from:

  • Bay Area Center for Regional Disaster Resilience
  • San Jose Water Authority

Webinar: Emergency Services Sector Webinar on Facilities and Communications Continuity

The Emergency Services Sector is offering a Webinar on Facilities and Communications Continuity for the first responder community on July 16, 2015. This Webinar will discuss the Office of Cyber and Infrastructure Analysis (OCIA) Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience Note – Hurricanes and Critical Infrastructure (requires HSIN login). Susan Flint, Intelligence Research Specialist from OCIA, will discuss how hurricanes could impact facilities and communications in the Emergency Services Sector.

Critical Infrastructure Cyber Community (C3) Voluntary Program Small and Midsize Business Roadshow

The Critical Infrastructure Cyber Community (C3) Voluntary Program, DHS Private Sector Office, DHS Office of Infrastructure Protection, and private sector organizations have coordinated to launch a Small and Mid-sized Business (SMB) Roadshow. The SMB Roadshow is a nationwide series of events aimed at increasing cybersecurity awareness, risk management, and use of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Cybersecurity Framework among our Nation’s SMB leaders. Roadshow attendees will receive the new SMB Toolkit, complete with tools and resources designed to help SMBs recognize and address their cybersecurity risks. Roadshows have already been held, in partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, in Washington, D.C., and in the greater Dallas and East Texas area.

Save the Date: FEMA Region II Individual and Community Preparedness Workshop

Save the Date for the Annual Individual and Community Preparedness Workshop, A Whole Community Approach to Bolstering Resilience. The Individual and Community Preparedness Workshop will showcase best practices and lessons learned for preparing the whole community with presenters representing the following sectors: public, private, not-for-profit, faith-based, voluntary organizations, Citizen Corps, higher education, tribal nations, access and functional needs, and youth. This whole community approach ensures that through collaboration, individuals and communities will be better prepared and more resilient.

The DHS Office of Infrastructure Protection (IP) offers a wide array of training programs and resources, at no cost, to government and private sector partners. Web-based training, classroom courses, and associated training materials provide government officials and critical infrastructure owners and operators with the knowledge and skills needed to implement critical infrastructure security and resilience activities.
